3/28/2010 Spring Racing = Brrrr

“Good morning…how are you?” I asked. “Freezing my hynee off” Rumple replied. This conversation took place just before 7am (Names have been changed to protect the innocent…or in this case the hynee referee). We’ve all heard that reference “Hynee” but I don’t remember learning what part of my anatomy the hynee is in Biology Class…Do You??? Oh well, Rumple was right and it was just too cold to argue the point…whatever part he was referring to was already cold anyway.

So why were we all out there grimacing and chattering our teeth while setting up the course and timing? We could have all stayed in our nice, warm bed and slept-in. Anyone in their right mind would have done just that. Ya-right, you’ve got to remember, we’re talking about AutoX RACERS here.

Welcome to Idaho SRRSCCA Spring Racing…

 ATTENTION DRIVERS

You may want to adjust your route to and from the Idaho Center this weekend…

“The Idaho Transportation Department cautions motorists to expect closures this weekend. Eastbound I-84 will be closed overnight between the Garrity and Meridian interchanges March 26 and 27.

All of eastbound I-84 will be closed overnight Friday (March 26) and Saturday (March 27) from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night. ITD will continue constructing “falsework” at the future Ten mile Interchange. The “falsework” will support the new bridge during construction.

Flaggers will direct traffic to Franklin Road during the detour.  Westbound I-84 will be open.

The Garrity Bridge is also currently under construction, motorists are advised to expect congestion at the intersection.

ARE YOU HAPPY AGAIN?

Posted on March 18th, 2010 by Robert Lundbohm

…………………………ARE YOU HAPPY AGAIN?………………………

Welllll… we finally got some long awaited seat time and the world is spinning smooooth again. I don’t know about any of you but this last winter I felt like a fish out of water, a Duck in the Sahara, alone on a uncharted island and other than that just not right. But the grumpies are gone and replaced with smiles and calmness again.

The day started out “COOOLD” but sunny with relatively few glitches…OK, there were a couple but you had to remember this was our first day back at the track. Considering all the updates and modifications to just about everything to do with timing and software the day “ROCKED” and more than surpassed our expectations. Thanks to DJ’s foresight Leo Brandt and everyone on the TIMING TEAM…You ALL get my official “ATTA-BOY”. I wish I had a higher praise because you guys out did yourselves.

The course was a combination of speed and tight corners and that finish was just right. If you didn’t have fun on that course then you need to change your thinking. The drain running the full length of the site looked like the Grand Canyon while I walked the course. The way DJ designed the crossing I hardly felt it in the car…that amazed me…great design buddy.

SRRSCCA Timing System Training

Posted on March 17th, 2010 by DJ

SO….the timing system is a go. Worked very well for the first event. Very minor hiccups found and dealt with.

I have stepped away from running this show now that the system is built. Officially speaking from here on out:

Leo Brandt is the official timing and scoring steward
Chris Wold is our web master

Now…if you would like to become a highly valued member of the club:

Come to the March 27th event at 10 am and go through Leo’s walk through of the timing system. The class will train each person to set up the system, do registration, run the event, and break down the system. The hope here is that the people that participate will be able to run events on their own in the future. Also being on this list of people will give those first dibs on doing timing during events (highly sought after worker positions during the hot summer).

Basically the class will teach the set up and break down for the events. Then after the drivers school breaks for lunch the timing students will set up timing for the afternoon drivers school course and run timing for that event.

There is a topic in the forum about this for questions and comments.
