Our Trashy Little Club

Our Trashy Little Club

….Really?  Is that how we’d like to represent? I don’t think that’s the case, but I have seen a trend that’s become cause for concern. Some may argue that it’s somewhat unavoidable, considering we’re the 1st in region with most growth from last season to this.  I’d say that’s an excuse to be lazy while showing ones own lack of concern for the face of our sport not to mention the relationship with our venue providers. So I urge you to think of every property we get to utilize, the way we take care of the land when we’re looking for something other than asphalt to walk on.

When we can leave a venue as clean or cleaner than we found it, we demonstrate the integrity of our sport and character of our people.

I’d like to ask each person who reads this to stand up and represent, plus I’m tired of spending my time picking up trash when I could be picking up cones.

Just a pat on the back….

As the Asst. RE I have been very excited every month to read the results of the Membership Drive contest that the SCCA is tracking…

I don’t even know what we win actually.

For the third straight month the SRRSCCA has topped the charts for a small region’s growth.

For the month of April the SRRSCCA grew an incredible 27%. Just a note 2nd in the country for small region was our closest club the EISCCA (props to Cal and the crew).

So to all of you that are involved. To anyone that ever told anyone to come check out our events, a big thank you from myself and the SRRSCCA board.

June 19, 2010 = History in the making?

Posted on June 4th, 2010 by Robert Lundbohm

June 19th will go down in the annals of HISTORY for SRRSCCA. Have I got your attention yet? Yeah, I thought as much… You’re ALL going to be a part of HISTORY.

Ok, so here it is…SRRSCCA will be doing something I don’t think too many clubs can Claim. We’re going to run two events simultaneously. Yeah, you read that right. You could say a DoubleHeader day of RACING…I like that; it has a nice ring to it.

Let me try to put all of this into perspective so you understand just how much of a challenge this will be. SRRSCCA will be using TWO Separate Timing Systems, TWO Separate Tech Teams, TWO Separate Safety Stewarts, TWO Separate Event Masters, TWO Separate Insurance policies, Two Separate of everything. Are you starting to get a grasp on the enormity of this endeavor?

OK…I’ve saved the best news of all for last…SRRSCCA has enough equipment and Trained personnel to accomplish ALL of the above. I don’t know about you but that is an AMAZING testament to the dedication and commitment of its members. So if you were pondering over my opening statement referring to History making. Do you believe me now?

Jerome June 5 and 6

Posted on June 2nd, 2010 by DJ

This years Jerome event weekend will be hosted by the Eastern Idaho SCCA.

Their website is at: http://www.eisccax.com//

They do offer online registration at: http://www.eiscc.info/registration.html

This is always a fun event weekend. You get the opportunity to meet the EI guys at a very laid back event. The surface is slick, and the courses are tight and demanding. Cal and the Eastern Idaho guys are super fun to run with. It gives you extra participation points for going, and a chance to get some class points…Its only a hour or so away so why not check it out.

Memorial Day Weekend Racing

Posted on June 1st, 2010 by Robert Lundbohm

Woohooo…

Ah, the sites and sounds of two days of racing… Engines Exhaust tones, laughter and smiles, joking – ribbing, the undeniable novice look of excitement, trembling fingers, tire smoking starts and spins, the smell of a hot engine and distinct smell of burnt clutch and brakes…. this all REFUELS the Racers soul as Biscuits and Gravy fuels our body. If none of that just doesn’t put a smile on your face then slap my feet ‘cause you ain’t no Racer… Now tell me I’m wrong?????

What a weekend huh? If you didn’t have fun or get your EEHAA fix for SRRSCCA AutoX racing Memorial Day weekend … then you need your head examined.

Saturday gave you a challenging 6 runs of Enduro and Sunday produced 9 lightning fast runs by a Newby course designer.
